In our current energy mix, approximately 20% is supplied in the form of electricity and 80% in the form of natural gas or liquid fossil fuel (petrol, diesel). This will change significantly in the near future due to our climate objectives. The share of electricity produced by wind and sun will increase. For a number of applications, such as heavy transport, high-temperature processes in industry and aviation, there is still no good electrical solution and there is still a need for a sustainable gas. Hydrogen can fulfill this role and will play a key role in the energy system of the future as energy carrier for the medium and long term. 

VDL Energy System is developing a series of mobile hydrogen fuell cell generators to convert hydrogen into electrical energy called Hydrogen Power Units in the range from 50 KW to 500 KW.
